LOCAMP SPORT KIT AIRCRAFT

Our most popular kit aircraft is the low-wing LoCamp model, a state of the art aircraft now in production.

Excellence In Sport Aircraft Production

The LoCamp sport kit aircraft might look vintage, but under the skin it is a thoroughly modern, state-of the-art flying machine. All kit parts are CAD-designed and produced by CNC/laser cutting equipment to exacting tolerances and perfect finish. A review of the LoCamp specifications will bear this out. The LoCamp is offered as a completed, fly-away aircraft, sporting either the the 110-h.p. Rotec R2800 7-cylinder radial engine or the 150-h.p. 9-cylinder Rotec R3600. Prices to be negotiated with prospective buyers depending on features and instruments to be included. Other engine options can be prototyped and installed at the request of the purchaser, including, for example, one of the Verner radials or the venerable Lycoming O-320 150-h.p. or Continental O-200 100-h.p. 4-cylinder horizontal opposed engines. (1)

The LoCamp remains available as an amateur-built aircraft kit for those seeking the very rewarding homebuilt aircraft experience.

Either way, the LoCamp can be certificated at a Sport Pilot-eligible gross weight of 1,320 lbs., or as much as 1,500 lbs, if Sport Pilot eligibility is not a concern.

The looks, quality and value of our aircraft all contribute to your ultimate flying pleasure.

(1) The new program depends upon the outcome of the FAA MOSAIC regulations revisions project now underway which is expected to permit professional construction of homebuilt aircraft kits.

LoCamp In Action

LoCamp -DATA SHEET

 rendering loTYPE
Two seat, low wing, single engine in tractor configuration.

DESIGN FEATURES
The untwisted, cantilever main wing features a rectangular planform with rounded tips, 3° dihedral from fuselage centerline and classical NACA4416 wing section at full span. The empennage features flat horizontal and vertical tail surfaces.

FLIGHT CONTROLS

Push-pull rods for ailerons and elevator, 3/32" steel cables for rudder control. The aircraft is trimmed by the electrically actuated stabilizer. The wing flaps are electrically actuated as well.

STRUCTURE
The wing structure features a classical twin aluminum spar; the spars, the molded wing ribs and flap/aileron components are made from sheets of Al 6082-T6 or 6061-T6. All aluminum parts are CNC produced (laser or router). LH and RH wings are mated to the fuselage through a center spar. All the wing, flaps and ailerons are covered by fabric, riveted to the ribs. The fuselage structure features a TIG welded chromium molybdenum steel truss with integral wing fittings, vertical stabilizer, plywood frames and fabric covering. All the steel tubes are internally protected by a MIL-SPEC anti-corrosion treatment that leaves a waxy protective layer over the surface.

LANDING GEAR
Conventional tailwheel type; fixed main gear on steel struts with rubber shock absorber, hydraulic Matco disc brakes and 6.00x6 Matco wheels. The steerable tailwheel is is full-swiveling after exceeding a specified degree of turn.

ACCOMMODATION
Tandem configuration with individual open cockpits (pilot in the rear seat); central stick controls, rudder pedals and throttles for both seats. Two luggage compartments, both with 44 lbs (20 kg.) capacity, one in the front and one in the rear.

SYSTEMS
The 12-volt electrical system is powered by one engine-driven alternator and provides power for the flaps, trim, aux fuel pump and radio rack. The fuel is kept in either a fuselage tank aft of the rear pilot seat, or in integral wing tanks. Capacity of the aft tank is approximately 23 US gallons.

POWERPLANT
The airframe can be equipped with different engines of the builder's choice.  At this time we provide the firewall forward kit for the 7-cylinder Rotec R2800 radial engine (rated power 110 HP). The engine drives a 2 blade wooden propeller. Many other engines installations would be good fits to the LoCamp as well, including the Rotec R3600 9-cylinder 150 h.p. radial; the Verner radial, Continental O-200, Lycoming O-320 and many others.  We will work with customers to fit the engine of their choice.
